Pastoral Support at Lingham
Lingham Primary School Pastoral Lead Support for Families
Our school staff are committed to supporting the wellbeing, safety, and success of every child and their family. Our Pastoral Lead, Mrs Smith, plays a key role working with other staff in school, in offering guidance, early intervention, and coordinated support through a range of services. This support is provided within the principles of systemic practice, supporting families in a curious, respectful, empathetic and creative way to understand the relationships, influences and context behind every family member’s daily lived experience. You can expect support to be based around trust and respect and identifying the problem as the problem and finding a solution together.
🧭 Signposting
We understand that knowing where to turn can be challenging. Our Pastoral Lead can signpost families to a wide range of services including:
Mental health and wellbeing services
Parenting support and courses
Financial, housing, and employment advice
Youth clubs and community groups
SEND support and local authority services
Our goal is to empower families with clear pathways to reliable help.
🌱 Early Help
Early Help is about providing support as soon as challenges begin to emerge, before small issues become bigger concerns. Our Pastoral Lead can:
Offer a listening ear and practical advice.
Work with pupils and families to identify needs.
Create support plans to improve wellbeing, attendance, and behaviour.
Connect families with relevant services before problems escalate.
Early Help aims to strengthen family relationships, promote resilience, and ensure children feel safe and supported.
🤝 Multi-Agency Support
Some situations require a team around the family. Our Pastoral Lead works closely with external partners such as:
Health professionals
Social care
Educational psychologists
Behaviour support teams
Community organisations
Family support services
We help coordinate communication so families receive consistent, joined-up support tailored to their needs.
🛡️ Safeguarding
The safety of our pupils is always our top priority. Our Pastoral Lead is trained in safeguarding and works to ensure that:
Concerns are identified and acted upon quickly.
Children feel protected, valued, and heard.
Families are supported throughout any safeguarding processes.
The school remains a safe and nurturing environment.
We follow all statutory guidance and work in partnership with families and agencies to keep children safe.
